The numbers keep rolling in here at Junction 36, as yet more new faces are presenting both buying and selling. The trade was lit up by a cracker of a British Blue bull from BR Butterfield & Son, Burton in Kendal when it reached new heights of £920. Charolais bulls from JH Towers & Son, Tunstall reached £890, with a further two at £860. Aberdeen Angus bulls were a marvellous trade with these topping at £880 and £870 from W&S Airey, Whittington. Limousins from Langley Park Farms, Millom sold to £840 and £810. Younger month old sorts topped at £780 for a British Blue from HJ Robinson, Kendal with Limousin at this age to £680 from AE Luffman, Sedbergh. Two week old bulls sold to £470 for a British Blue from Dolphenby Farming, Penrith.
Heifer calves were equally as nice to sell, topping at £790 for an Aberdeen Angus cross from W&S Airey, Whittington with other Aberdeen Anus cross to £770 from both SW&K Metcalfe, Whittington and CR Dickinson, Thurnham. Charolais heifers to £760 and £740 from JH Towers & Son, with Limousins to £740 from Langley Park Farm, Millom. British Blue cross sold to £550 for six week olds from DW&EA Cottam, New Hutton with thirty day old British Blues to £510 from Dolphenby Farming, Penrith and twenty eight day old Herefords to £330 from this same good farming. The consignment of Holstein heifers from G&F Barnes, Clitheroe sold to £290, with others at £140 and £240 at just three weeks of age.
STORE CATTLE

We aim for the moon at Kendal Auction Mart where the ozone layer has been broken yet again for store cattle.
The stratospheric trade leaves vendors lightheaded, as bodies adjust to unknown levels of altitude.
Twenty month old Aberdeen Angus bullocks from JE Wightman, Lupton sold to £2480. The same good home then sold another pen to £2300. Charolais bullocks topped at £2370 at just sixteen months old from J Turnball, Grange Over Sands. Even younger British Blue bullocks made £2160 at twelve month old from TW Nelson, Kendal.
Heifers hit £2300 for a Simmental from JF&C Saunders, Ulverston. A Limousin heifer from JE Wightman, Lupton sold to £2130, while a pair of Aberdeen Angus heifers at around the twenty month mark made £2000 from the same home. Yearling British Blue heifers from A Winder & Son, Kirkby Stephen achieved £1900.

A pleasing entry of 94 forward today, with an abundance of customers in attendance all keen to secure stock ahead of turn out.
A mixed entry of bulls saw a top price of £1660 for a nine month old Limousin cross from B Heys, Mossborough. A run of South Devons (8 months) sold to £1640 and £1600 from AT Threlkeld, Ulverston. Other bulls sold to £1500 for a Limousin cross from D&A Nicholson, Subberthwaite with nine month old Hereford cross selling to £1480 from J&JR Stott, Kingsland. Young well reared bulls sold to £860 for a four month old Limousin cross from Langley Park Farm, Millom.
Plenty of interest in steers ahead of turn out, with six to ten month old steers from BR Butterfield & Son, Burton in Kendal selling to £1380, £1360 and £1280. British Blue cross sold to £1310 from AT Bainbridge, Kirkby Stephen. Suckler bred steers sold to £1380 for nine month old Limousin cross from SW Atkinson & Son, Crook with others at £1330 from D&A Nicholson, Ulverston. Native sired steers sold £1300 for a Luing cross (nine months) from SW Atkinson, Crook with eleven month old Aberdeen Angus cross £1290 from AT Bainbridge, Kirkby Stephen. Yearling Whitebred Shorthorn steers from JE Atkinson, Ulverston sold at £1180. Younger reared Aberdeen Angus cross steers from Messrs Young, Lindale sold at £900.
Heifers sold to £1490 for eleven months old Limousin cross from SW Atkinson & Son, Crook who sold ten month olds at £1390. Other nine to eleven month old first cross heifers were £1120 to £1250. An entry of predominantly weaned heifers sold to £850 for four to five month old Limousin cross from Langley Park Farms, Penrith with Aberdeen Angus £800 (five months old) from Messrs Young, Lindale, Hereford cross (five months old) sold to £680 from W Stamper, Chipping.

OTM CATTLE
Cull cows sold to a phenomenal trade, with over half the entry being parlour type dairy cows still achieving a respectable market average of 260.98p/kg.
Young beef cows sold to 379p/kg for a Limousin from S Whitehead, Middleton with other well-bred half meated beef cows regularly 260p/kg to 300p/kg, with feeding types 240p/kg to 260p/kg. Top grossing was a Limousin achieving £2394, with Charolais to £2392. Endless beef cows were £1800 to £2200. Dairy cows sold to 279.5p/kg for a Holstein Friesians from Jenkin Cragg, Kendal with other well meated dairy cows regularly 240p/kg to 260p/kg, parlour types 210p/kg to 230p/kg and only the very leanest 190p/kg to 205p/kg. Top grossing was a Holstein Friesians from W Garnett & Son, Milnthorpe at £2088, with other at £2052 and £2033.
Cull bulls to 289p/kg from JC Morphett, Hale and £2865 from J&J Beary, Orton.
An entry of OTM dairy heifers sold to 354p/kg from JM Barton & Son, Lupton with other at £1924 from W Garnett & Son, Milnthorpe.
